If you love to hike, be enveloped in the wonders of nature, head to Cabo Rojo where you’ll find unique natural works of art formed beautifully formed by water and wind.  The natural bridge has graceful beauty, taking the spotlight of an enchanting and magical landscape fit for a “Pirates of the Caribbean” scene.  El Puente Natural is surrounded by bright red limestone cliffs, a beach cove fit for a pirate where the sunset light creates a dramatic scene like nowhere else on the island. The flora is lush and dry making the scene mysterious with a feel of being in a faraway place.

This natural bridge/arch has become one of the most popular sights on the west coast of Puerto Rico featured in magazines and ads all over the island.  Today, locals commonly call this attraction “El Punte Natural or El Puente Natural de Piedra” (The Natural Bridge or The Natural Stone Bridge).

Back in 2005 when we created our sister site CaboRojoPR.com, there was no information about this enchanting spot.  We began receiving messages from photographers, magazines, and tv channels, wanting to know how to get to this natural work of art.  Today, it is one of the most photographed places in Puerto Rico.  We are happy more travelers are experiencing the Puerto Rico we love, don’t miss visiting El Puente Natural.

Just when you think you’ve seen the prettiest sights in the area if you keep walking you’ll find more natural rock formations, caves, small coves, and plenty of places to sit down with your loved one and simply be lost in the wonder and beauty of this place.

Getting Here

To get here, visit the elegant Los Morrillos Lighthouse.  If you are facing the water, follow the bicycle trail to your right.  It’s an easy walk, just bring plenty of water to stay hydrated, it’s a pretty sunny and hot area.  See map location below. This is a popular bicycling trail for locals.

Para llegar, visita el Faro de los Morrillos en Cabo Rojo.  Si miras el mar, sigue la vereda a tu derecha. La caminata es facil, solo trae bastante agua para mantenerte hidratado.  Ver el mapa siguiente. 

• We’ve seen teenagers jump off the bridge and dive into the waters.  Please do not attempt to jump or swim on these waters, especially when the tide is high and the water is rough.
• People keep posting photos of standing at the bridge when it clearly states to not pass and stand on it.  It is not only a risk to your safety but also the stability of the formation, please help to keep it by following the rules and regulations and please take your trash with you.
